Professional Development

  • MindSet De-escalation Training - Mindset curriculum is a system of preventing and managing aggressive behavior. Participants explored preventative practices and de-escalation strategies. Each participant was re-certified in the use of restraint through a physical skills assessment.

  • Essentials of Co-Teaching - This 4-day series is designed to enhance the co-teaching process for the academic improvement of all students, specifically for students with disabilities. Co-teaching pairs participate in the course together - both the general education and special education teacher. The training covers a series of topics that are crucial for success in the inclusion classroom:  overview of co-teaching (to include models of co-teaching as well as IEPs and planning), behavior strategies, specially designed instruction, high leverage practices and assistive technology.

  • Special Ed Teacher Induction Academy - This 4-day course series is designed to provide support to new special education teachers who may need more knowledge related to special education and in delivering and designing specialized instruction for students with disabilities using high leverage practices.

  • Check and Connect - Check and Connect is a structured mentoring program focused on increasing student engagement at school and with learning to improve student outcomes. It is an evidence and research-based intervention proven to be effective at all grade levels when implemented with fidelity and is designed to target the most 'at-risk' students (Tiers II and III).

  • Online Parapro Course - This course is to provide paraprofessionals with a deeper understanding of their role in supporting special needs students and to provide effective strategies for maximizing students’ progress through collaboration with the classroom teacher. This course is offered online in an asynchronous format using the Canvas platform.
