ESOL Endorsement
Overview
Northwest Georgia RESA’s ESOL Endorsement will prepare candidates to teach ESOL courses in grades P-12 based on standards outlined in Rule 505-3-.89.
Course Delivery
This program utilizes a hybrid delivery model that can include face-to-face meetings, synchronous online meetings, and asynchronous online coursework. Please refer to the specific course listing in the registration system for additional details.
Courses
The ESOL Endorsement is designed to include three courses. Courses must be taken in the following sequence:
Cultural Influences for Teaching ESOL (50 hours)
Language Acquisition and Development in Teaching ESOL (50 hours)
Methods and Materials for Teaching ESOL (50 hours)
Technical Requirements
All candidates taking this course must have access to the following:
A computer running Windows 10 or higher, MacOS 10.14 or higher, or the most current version of Chrome OS
Internet connection of at least 3.0 Mbps (You can check your speed here)
Working microphone and webcam
Admission Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria to apply for entry into an ESOL Endorsement cohort:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with a minimum of 2.5 GPA
Valid T-4 or higher Clear Renewable Certificate in any teaching, service, or leadership field
Two or more years of successful teaching experience (Verification is included in the Endorsement Candidate Application Form)
